The chase card is a different thing in every era

Every list on this page ranks on the same four axes — player significance, scarcity, condition and whether the set is one collectors recognise. But scarcity means something completely different depending on when the card was printed, and that trips up more Arsenal buyers than anything else. A modern collector expects a parallel ladder; on 1980s Arsenal cardboard there isn't one, and condition is the whole market.

What actually decides where an Arsenal card ranks?

Four things, in roughly this order: how significant the player is to the club, how scarce the specific card is (base versus insert versus serial-numbered parallel versus autograph), condition — which on anything pre-2000 outweighs almost everything else — and whether the set itself is one collectors recognise. Our lists rank on those axes, never on a price prediction.

Do these lists include card values or prices?

No. We do not publish or speculate on card values, because they move constantly and a number written today is wrong by next month. Every list instead opens live eBay listings for the cards it names, so you see current asking prices and real completed condition side by side rather than a stale figure.

Does every Arsenal card have parallels and refractors?

Only the modern ones. Topps-era Arsenal cards from roughly 2018 onward sit on a full parallel ladder — base, insert, colour parallels, serial-numbered parallels and 1/1s. Pre-Premier-League Arsenal cardboard has no ladder at all: A&BC, Topps UK and Panini issued one version, so the entire premium is condition. The 1990s Merlin era sits in between, with inserts and club-issue sets as the only tier above base.

How often are these lists updated?
